Relationship and Couples Counselling

Strengthening Connection, Understanding and Partnership

Relationships are the heart of the support, connection, and joy in our lives. They can also be where we experience some of our greatest challenges.

When communication breaks down, resentment can build, conflict becomes repetitive, trust is damaged.

Life constantly presents new pressures and challenges in a relationship; it can feel difficult to find a way forward with your partner.

Relationship counselling provides a space where both people can feel heard, understood and respected while exploring the patterns that may be keeping them stuck.

My approach focuses not only on the individuals within the relationship, but on the relationship itself. Rather than working from a perspective of who is right or wrong, we explore how you can move from “me and you” towards a stronger sense of “we” and “us”.

I offer longer 90-minute sessions because meaningful conversations and lasting change take time. These extended sessions create space to slow down, listen more deeply, and understand what is happening beneath recurring conflicts or misunderstandings.

At the heart of my work is a person-centered approach that values empathy, understanding, and genuine connection. I also draw on approaches including Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy and Motivational Interviewing when helpful. These approaches can support couples to identify unhelpful patterns, improve communication, gain new perspectives and develop practical strategies for change.

Relationship counselling can help with:

  • Communication difficulties
  • Patterns of conflict
  • Parenting disagreements
  • Trust and relationship repair
  • Life transitions and major changes
  • Emotional disconnection
  • Strengthening intimacy and connection
  • Navigating differing values, expectations or goals
  • Building healthier ways of relating to one another

Together, we work to strengthen understanding, improve communication, and build a relationship that feels more connected, respectful, and resilient.

Relationships don’t need to be perfect to be worth investing in.

It’s a bit like servicing your car to keep it running smoothly and prevent it breaking down….whether you’re experiencing significant challenges or simply want to strengthen your relationship, counselling can provide the space to reconnect, better understand one another, and create positive change together.
